How far should I space The Patio Misting System Nozzles?

Spacing out the nozzles on your patio misting system is an important factor to proper cooling.  Generally we recommend 24" - 30".  Read more below for a more detailed explanation.

The Patio Misting System Nozzle Spacing

How far apart should I space my mist nozzles?

The question of how far apart to space your patio misting system nozzles is fairly easy to answer.  It largely is a personal preference question.   We have many customers who want a short distance in their mist nozzles, and some who want more space between their nozzles.

When using the black flexible nylon tubing that comes standard in each misting kit, consider these:

  • 16-23 inches - Somewhere in this range will provide a ton of cooling power but not so close together that it will be too much.  This would be more useful spacing for hot and dry climates.

  • 24 inches - This is the most common spacing when using the black flexible tubing.

  • 25 - 32 inches - This spacing will also provide a great cooling mist.  No problem getting your nozzles this far apart and is usually recommended for longer runs and bigger backyards.  This will help spread out your nozzles so you use a few less and each one will pack a better punch.

  • Getting above 32 inches is starting to push it pretty far and is ok in certain situations but you wouldn't want to space every nozzle 32" apart.

  • Spacing at various distances.  This is also a popular, and recommended, way to space your nozzles.  Sometimes you want them closer in certain areas of your yard, and sometimes you want them farther apart.  The great thing about The Patio Misting System's modular components is that you can pick exactly how far apart you want each nozzle.  This gives you total control on where you want each nozzle placed.

Stainless Steel Tube with The Patio Misting System

Get the professional look of stainless steel

The Patio Misting System offers a stainless steel upgrade option.  The main difference with this upgrade is aesthetics.  While of course the stainless steel is more durable, the included nylon tubing will last you many many years.  Each piece of stainless steel is 30 inches so your nozzle spacing ends up being about 29 inches once the connections are made.  The stainless steel can be cut but typically it is not necessary.

We often recommend using both stainless steel and the black flexible tubing together as they are interchangeable and can go back and forth throughout your misting line.  Utilizing the black tubing for unique corners, angles, height changes or somewhere you have a need for more flexibility will help you with a smooth and easy installation.

We recommend you use the black flexible tubing from your pump connection all the way to where you will start your stainless steel.  Since the black flexible tubing can be easily manipulated, buried, hidden or painted is easier to run it until you want to have the aesthetics of stainless steel with your nozzles.

Stainless steel is offered in 25, 50 and 75 feet increments.  As mentioned, each piece is 30 inches long.
